Our First Venture Into Harlem

Well, I'm a little behind on my bloggging, so I'm going to write furiously to try to catch up! Thursday night we went to a home bible study which was held at the home of the Masons in Harlem on 5th Ave. between 115th St. & 116th St. We didn't really know what to expect, but are trying to keep a very open mind about everything & figured we'd give it a go. I'm so glad we did! First of all, we met a great crew of young adults. Interestingly enough, there were like 9 guys and only 3 girls - I don't think I've ever been in a church group where guys out number the girls! But, the girls were really cool & I'm so glad I've met them. We had a great study together & fellowship afterwards. Joanna Mason (1 of the other 2 girls - she lives with her parents at the house where the study was held) offered to give us a tour of her home, and it was amazing! It's 3 or 4 levels (absolutely huge) and just really beautiful throughout. We also learned that Mr. Mason (an elder at Manhattan Church of Christ) is an art expert. He used to work for Sotheby's and now has his own auction company, but most impressively, he appears regularly on The Antiques Roadshow - how cool is that!? Anyways, it was such a treat to be around such cool, Christian young adults & we look forward to getting closer to this group!
