Let's Do Brunch!

7:22 PM / Posted by Katy /

This morning we had some friends from our college age/young professional small group over for brunch. On the menu were almost all things I had never cooked before: Breakfast Casserole, Cheese Grits, and Andrea Calhoun's Cream Cheese Danishes. We also had pancakes with berries & whipped cream, but those I had made before =). Luckily, I didn't burn anything (other than my fingertips . . . but if cooking is involved, that is to be expected) and everything turned out pretty tasty. I think I might have accomplished a Holsombake first - cooking for a group of people without having weeks worth of leftovers. We had just the right amount of food, though I must admit I spent most of the morning worrying if it would be enough. This also marks by far the largest group to be in our apartment at one time - I think there were 12 of us in all, which violated some fire codes I'm sure, but no one seemed to mind the coziness =). We had a really good time just getting to hang out with everyone - this is such a diverse group & we love getting the chance to hear about each other's lives & experiences. Of course, there was also some Guitar Hero and Wii Sports fun as well!

Marianne, Chris, Kyle, Clara & Ryan

Everyone commented on Ryan & Chris' matching ensembles - they swear it wasn't planned =p

This gives you an idea of just how cozy it was, and everyone isn't even in the pic! From L to R: Alicia, Marianne, Joanna, Whitney, Chris, Ryan, Cassie, Michael, Kyle

Clara, my wonderful French teacher, & me

I LOVE this picture I took of Cassie. If the whole tax law thing doesn't work out, maybe I'll pursue a career in photography =).

You'd be a great photographer, but you can't quit tax law now!! Oh, and I love the reference to the left overs!! hehe...I, too, always worry about having enough food when having a party and always end up with WAY too much food, so I can relate.

How wonderful to have good friends and good food in your cozy home. Your pictures were great and especially the last picture of Cassie. Did you get in your window to take that picture? Mrs. Sandy and I are looking forward to your delicious cooking-haha :) I miss you and am counting the weeks until I can see you and Chris again. Love you, Mom --- III John 4
