The Weekend Update

This weekend, we started things off on Saturday by hiking over to the Javits Convention Center to see the New York Auto Show. I must admit, it was pretty incredible. Every car maker imaginable was there with the absolute coolest display areas! Of course, the cars were nice too. Most of the cars you could get in as well, so that was fun. Needless to say, Chris was like a kid in a candy store! See for yourself.

Chris adores a Mini. We're definitely going to have to Zip Car one soon =).

I actually had a really good time too! My favorite part was getting to see all of the really cool concept cars. I love how all of the seats are getting really streamlined & thin - more legroom!

It's so cool how there's no metal in between the doors & they open backwards so that it's totally open in the middle! That would be really useful for hauling things like over-sized area rugs!

This car was crazy - it was a convertible in the front, but closed in the back. The back also had two flat screen tvs & a center console that had it's own champagne flutes & held up to three bottles of champagne. Crazy huh!?

Of course, the really high end cars were cool too. I love this picture of the Lamborghini - doesn't it look mean!?

For any car enthusiasts out there, check out Chris' Flickr account to see all of the pics.

After the car show, we rushed home to make it to our friend Kyle's birthday party. There were probably about 20 of us who went out for dinner. Then, everyone headed over to our place for birthday cake, ice cream & games. Unfortunately, by then, our camera battery was dead. Here are a couple of pics a friend took.

The saddest birthday cake ever! I should've told the kid working the deli/bakery at our local grocery to just let me do it, especially when we were spelling the name for him & he didn't know what the letter "y" was. We actually had to write it out for him. When it came back looking like this, all we could do was laugh a little - to which he smiled & replied, "I did the best I could." Lol - thanks guy!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE remember to pray for the Backus family!

Dearest Katy

Sounds like you and chris had a great time. The pictures remind me of Chris in high school with his cool yellow car parked in our Timber Lane driveway. Love you both, Mom

Oohhh, Rob would have LOVED that car show as much as Chris did! Very cool!

I keep checking Kristy's blog for updates on the Backus twins and am really praying for the best. I know this must be a really difficult time for them all, and so scary. They are certainly in my prayers.

I looked through all of Chris' pictures from the auto show and they were AWESOME! You got to see so many cool cars! I bet Chris was on cloud 9. I'd be interested to see which he enjoyed more: the taping of SNL or the NY Auto Show.
Glad you had fun celebrating Kyle's birthday. Did the cake at least taste good? :)
Love you.

I just read your London post and my heart was actually skipping a beat while looking at all the gorgeous pictures....the one of you and your mom in front of the Eiffel Tower was gorgeous! I am so excited about the idea of going there one day! And you're right - I'm 100% positive that you could've done a better job at making and decorating a cake then that particular deli guy did - whew! At least it made for a really good story though, right?! :)
