I find it a constant struggle to keep my blog updated! I have every good intention of regularly updating with short, pithy entries, yet somehow always end up with the hurried - here's my life for the last two weeks version. Oh well - that's life I guess. This most recent chapter in my novel blog is dedicated to my faithful blog devotee & birthday boy, Paw-Paw.
So, since Valentine's Day, I have accepted a job here in NYC. Yup, that's right folks, we're staying in NYC for a bit longer. Though a bit anxious, I'm really excited about starting work. The fact that I've been in law school for 4 years now just recently hit me & the opportunity to actually do what I've been studying for so long is really awesome. And while I don't actually start until October (complements of the NY Bar Exam), here's a pic of the new office . . .
We recently received some crazy snowfall as well! Of course, the one day I absolutely have to run errands all over town, we get like 6 inches of snow! I decided to try & make the best of it though & took some really pretty shots of the snowfall around town. Check it out . . .

In our garden everything was full of snow

They city was strangely quiet as schools & some businesses were closed for the day
The reason I was running around all day was to prepare for Girl's Nite. I had invited some girls from church over to watch Pride & Prejudice (the BBC version, of course) and enjoy hot tea, finger sandwiches, scones & sweets. Hayli treated us all by brining over cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery & Joanna had the brilliant idea to cut them in fourths so we could try four different ones! They were so yummy. Here are a couple of pics from Girl's Nite . . .

I love how Cassie ended up with all the cupcake wrappers =) Believe me, she had help!

Of course the boys (Chris, Ryan, Kyle & Patrick) just couldn't stand the though of us having all this girly fun without them, so they came home early, snuck out into the garden & threw snowballs at the window trying to scare us. Unfortunately for them, we weren't scared at all & somehow in the process they managed to lock themselves outside in the cold & snow. We were gracious enough to rescue them & let them warm their bellies with our hot tea & cupcakes. After the boys crashed the party, we continued the fun with cards & Wii games.
The next morning Kristy & Payton arrived. We had a wonderful time getting to see them & showing them around the city. For all the particulars, head over to Kristy's blog. Of course there was lots of sightseeing involved, but my favorite parts were getting to see the American Museum of Natural History & all the yummy places we ate (Soho Park, Norma's at Le Parker Meridien Hotel, and the dangerous close to home Market Table were my favorites).
Kristy & Payton left on Wed. & the following day Chris & I flew home to Panama City to visit my Nanny who has been sick. We were also happy to be able to celebrate my Grammy Jean & Paw-Paw's 50th Wedding Anniversary & Chris' sister's 30th Birthday while we were there. It was so wonderful for all of our family to be together - I'm so looking forward to future trips home when we can all be together again! I got to tag along on Payton & Kristy's house hunting tour courtesy of Jamey, property manager extroidinairre, and Chris & I enjoyed a wonderful evening with his family out at his brother's beautiful beachfront condo. Our nephews & nieces on Chris' side are growing up so fast, it was wonderful to get to spend a little time with them playing by the pool, collecting seashells & flying kites on the beach. It seems that no matter where we live, going to Panama City will always feel like coming home.
As busy as the last few weeks have been, the upcoming will be even more so! My mom, Mrs. Sandy & Sara arrive on Saturday & the following Friday, mom, Mrs. Sandy & I leave for 9 days in London & Paris. I'm doing my best to over this vicious cold I have so that I can fully enjoy that trip! I hope to keep you posted as best I can over the next couple of weeks. I'm definitely still aiming for those more regular, short glimpses into each day's worth of fun! Wish me luck in that endeavor!
