Well, I figured since Holly did tag me first, I better not stop for the night without taking care of that one too. Besides, there's no way she'll respond to my tag if I don't. Plus, I finished a long soak in the tub, so I had plenty of time to think of my 8 things.
Here's how it works. 1) Each person starts w/ 8 random facts/habits about themselves. 2) People who are tagged need to write a post on their own blog (about their 8 things) and post the rules. 3) At the end of your blog, you need to choose people to get tagged & list their names. 4) Don't forget to leave them a comment telling them they're tagged & to read your blog.
Here it goes . . .
1. I can be painfully indecisive. Example - I still have not bought my rain boots yet. Ridiculous, I know! I just keep going back and forth in my mind over whether I really need them or not. Come on Katy, they're 20 bucks - buy the boots already!
2. The thought of having children is pretty terrifying to me. I think this stems from the fact that I was OBSESSED with baby dolls as a child and treated them like honest to goodness babies. I seriously had like 12 of them that would sleep on my bed every night. I would use all all my covers to make sure my babies were covered up and wouldn't have any covers for myself even though I slept with the fan on high every night. I would pretend it was winter & I couldn't afford enough blankets for me and my babies, so I would just have to freeze. This could be one explanation for why I was always sick as a child!
3. I truly thought I was going to die at the hands of my sister one time. I had borrowed her new Calvin Klein jeans (despite her ongoing threats of what would happen to me if I ever touched anything in her closet) and broke my ankle that day at school. The doctor had to cut the jeans off of me. Had it not been for my mother, my life would have ended right then and there at the ripe old age of 13. She resourcefully turned them into cut-off shorts for my sister & as my ransom bought her a new pair of jeans.
4. I am the product of Bay County Public Schools. I attended public school K-12 (come to think of it, my Bachelor's & J.D. are both from a public university as well). I know first-hand how many excellent educational opportunities and fantastic educators there are in public schools and I get really annoyed when people talk about how bad the US school system is.
5. Naturally, I have the tendency to be pretty critical. However, growing up my mom was always saying, "Most people are doing the best they can with what they've got." I really try to remind myself of that. I don't know if it's always true, but I do know believing it makes you a better, kinder person.
6. Despite the fact that I have been trying my entire life, I cannot water-ski. Can't snow-ski either. I don't have an athletic bone in my body.
7. I love to travel and have been fortunate enough to do quite a bit of it even though I hate to fly. It's not a fear thing, just a motion sickness thing - planes, boats, charter buses driving through the Tuscan countryside while I'm on my honeymoon - I've lost my lunch on them all. I keep hoping they'll actually develop that thing from Star Trek that magically teleports people to other places.
8. I cannot watch scary movies. It's not that I just don't like them, I'm worse than a 6 yr. old. I screamed out loud in the theatre when the Dragon busts out in Shrek. And again when I went to the IMAX w/ friends from Tally to see Beauty & The Beast - that Beast just comes out of no where! Chris will embarrassedly tell me, "Katy, it's not real," but I just can't detach. Weird, I know.
So there you have it! I tag Kristy (if you haven't done this yet) & Sara.

I laughed out loud reading this. Definitely one of your best (and funniest) posts to date! :) Here are my comments on a few of your facts...
Fact 1. Buy the boots!
Fact 2. I remember all the baby dolls, and would like to apologize for the times I would mistreat them. Also, sorry for the times I wouldn't let you sleep in my bed when we were growing up. Had I known you were kicked out of your bed by a bunch of plastic babies, I might have been more compassiate :)
On a different note, don't be so worried about having children. You and Chris will make GREAT parents. Any child will be extremely fortunate to have you as a mom!
Fact 3. Yeah, sorry about this one, too. Looking back, it's really amazing that you love me and have forgiven me for how mean I was to you as a child (you have forgiven me, right?)
Fact 4. Bill Husfelt would be proud to read this fact :)
Fact 8: Must run in our family...I can't watch scary movies either. In fact, sometimes I can feel my blood pressure rising after just watching a preview for a scary movie on tv or on the movie screen prior to my movie coming on.
It might not be a "cool" thing to comment on your daughter's blog, but it made my day to read your 8 facts. You are a precious daughter and have brought me much joy and pride. God is so faithful and I praise Him for being there to provide/protect for you and Chris.
Psalm 145:3&4
Kristy - of course I forgive you . . . you're my favorite sister!
Mom - who says it's not cool to comment on your daughter's blog? The whole reason I started blogging was to stay connected while away. I love that you keep up with me & appreciate your comments!
Yay, great post!
